Tanya Ryk Friedman is honored to have served for four years as president of Chapin's Alumnae Association and feels privileged to have enjoyed so many wonderful interactions with fellow alumnae. She received her AB from Harvard University and earned her MA and PhD in clinical psychology from New York University. Much of Tanya's advanced clinical training took place at Bellevue Hospital Center, where she subsequently assumed the role of staff psychologist in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Clinic. She was also the clinical director of a therapeutic school program for emotionally disturbed children at Bellevue, as well as the associate director of the psychology externship program, overseeing the clinical training of graduate students. Tanya remains in full-time private practice, focusing on the treatment of children, adolescents and their families. Since 1990, she has held multiple roles in Chapin's Alumnae Association and is in her final year as president. In addition to her commitment to Chapin, Tanya is the co-chair of the Harvard Schools Committee of New York City, organizing local alumni interviewing and educational outreach, and serves on the board of managers of the Harvard Club of New York City and as a director of the Foundation of the Harvard Club of New York, which raises funds for financial aid and other scholarship programs for Harvard students.
