How to stop leaks in confidentiality. (Trust)

How do you know what kind of person your dealing with? Can you trust them? How do you know you haven't brought in a cancer and made a mistake by revealing your secrets to soon, to this employee? If they are short term or new, then you have not yet had a chance to build trust.

Why your staff doesn't keep their confidentiality agreement

How is it that so much is known about your private life? How is it that sensitive documents are released to smokinggun.com? Do you have to be a VIP, socialite or celebrity to have this happen to you?

Here are a few reasons this is happening to you.

1. The money being offered to your staff to reveal everything, outweighs any harm or loss of their job (if caught) for breaking their confidentiality with you.

2. You have scorned / hurt the person that you agreed to confidentiality with, beyond repair.

3. You have shown no ethics towards the way you deal with people, and your written and oral words of agreement means nothing.

In the next blog: How to avoid these kind of people, How to detect the cancer within, what to look for and how to hire the people you surround yourself with.

Perezhilton.com blog phenomenon

How is it that a man in a coffee shop can gain so much attention in such an innocuous format? It certainly must be the most read blog of them all. How is it that he can attract so many people to his blog? It is his seductive formula of unflattering photos, unflattering stories that reveal the secrets of celebrity’s lives. It makes us feel like we are living in a fantasy world of knowing someone’s secret weaknesses. In my future blogs, I will dissect why he is so popular. I applaud the success of perezhilton.com and am astounded by your popularity and success you have achieved.

Do people really hate Perezhilton.com?

Do people really hate Perezhilton.com? The ones he writes unflattering stories about, or reveals secret addictions, relationships or bad attributes I really feel are angry with him. Studios who rely on publicists spin and are derailed by Perezhilton.com, again, I feel are angry with him in a hateful way. However the public masses who read celebrity magazines like People, US weekly, Star Magazine, In Touch; Who read gossip newspaper columns in the New York Post Page Six, or the New York Daily News Daily dish or the 1000’s of syndicated newspapers who cover gossip and celebrity stories and the millions who watch the entertainment shows like Insider, Entertainment Tonight, Access or tune into the E! Entertainment network are not Haters of Perezhilton.com, but rather are fans, which rely on his gossip stories, tips, and photo’s on a daily basis. One amazing fact that he firmly says is that he does not pay for tips. My big question to paparazzi and others who are supplying him is: Why supply him for free?

Perezhilton.com attack on celebrities who can't get sympathy.

A format that Perezhilton.com seems to follow is to attack certain celebrities who can’t seem to get any sympathy from their public. Even their fans join in by reading the hatred that Perezhilton.com spews at them. Telling it like it really is about the celebrity, and an “in your face, to catch you doing something wrong” attitude is striking a cord with the public.

Why is Perezhilton.com mentioned in my blog?

How does this relate to this blog? Publicity with little resources is something I have always strived for, because I have always had little or no resources but have done so much with what I have. Perezhilton.com has also done so much with so little.

Additional reading about the Davis Family

I highly recommend the issue of Vanity Fair featuring a story about the feuding Davis sisters, and the family attacks, and the rumor that the family is broke and in ruins, If you have a copy, please scan it and send it to me.

What have we learned about Socialites?

From learning about Rob Tencer's experiences with socialites, we get the following list of advice:

1. Get paid before you start any work.
2. Don’t sell yourself cheaply.
3. The client pays all expenses related to them..
4. Dump the client if they mistreat you, or disrespect you.
5. Take care of them but still watch your back.
6. Charge extra for styling work. (At least get expenses.)

Movie set gets other visitors. (Mortuary directed by Tobe Hooper)

I had sent out press releases the day before about the stabbing, and several news crews were covering the story including Defamer (which called me a genius for getting everyone to care about a D-list star and to get press for a movie no one will see), NY daily news “Rush / Malloy”, Insider with Pat O’Brian, Entertainment Tonight, Fox news “which broke into The OC to mention the stabbing, and many more media outlets. Even fuggingitup.com was apologizing at the harsh treatment they gave her and wished her a speedy recovery. The wound was not as bad as I played it out to be. I told the press while being interviewed, that Courtney’s boyfriend Jason Davis’s mother, Nancy Davis was consulted for a plastic Surgeon, and that blood was everywhere from the stabbing. I purposely left the press release vague and allowed peoples imagination to get the best of them. In the end, the surgeons used glue to close the wound and stop the bleeding. I had brought bandages and gauze to cover her up for theatrical effects, and to keep the story going for sympathy. Courtney would not listen, and the story quickly vanished.

Courtney gets injured on the movie set, and Jason visits.

When Courtney Peldon was injured on the set of a movie, I called Jason (knowing she was seeing someone else) to go with me to check up on her. Courtney stopped paying me the month before stating she did not think I was going to be effective if she could not attend events. I wanted to prove her wrong, and she was in shock at how the world knew of her accident so quickly. I drove Jason in his car the 2 hours out of town, to her set. We took a shuttle from the crew parking lot to the movie set. The shuttle driver got to talking, and she mentioned how in love Courtney was to her boyfriend. Jason mentioned he was her boyfriend, but the shuttle driver described the boyfriend according to Courtney as the guy who played Marty Mcfly in the movie series, Back to the future. She thought his name was Crispin Glover. Jason was in disbelief.

Jason and Courtney attend the Emmy after parties.

Remember that Jason and Courtney Peldon only knew the day before the Emmy’s that they would be attending. That had nothing to do with trying to get into the many Emmy after parties. I got them into several of them, but because they were all next to each other it was not hard to get to them. The people with the list recognized me, and let me bring them in. The HBO party was a different story. HBO knew she was only an extra on their show the entourage, and had no respect for her. They would not even allow her to attend the season premiere party with her in it. They also locked her out of the HBO gifting suite for cast members of HBO shows, as she showed up completely inappropriate in hot pink beach wear. Again I begged them to allow her and Jason to attend their Emmy Party and they finally said yes.

Jason Davis buys his way into the 2004 Emmy’s

At the very last moment, Jason somehow buys tickets to the 2004 Emmy’s, and invites Courtney to be his date. This virtually leaves me no time to pull enough clothes and accessories together, but I come through with a Versace gown, and Stuart weitzman shoes. She insults my friend, the diamond and jewelry maker Martin Katz, and then asks me to pull jewelry from him. Then when I get him to say yes, by begging and apologizing to him, she decides on Harry Winston instead. Courtney had a small extra role on the first episode of the entourage. The show was nominated for an Emmy, so I saw an organic reason for her to be there. (It was a stretch, but that’s what I do) Can you imagine how hard it was for me, to be credentialed the day of the event? It all worked because my name was good enough to make the legitimate difference for her to even get onto the red carpet, and I showed up in a tuxedo.

My Carousel of hope disaster part 2

The trouble started because Jason and Courtney wanted to roam throughout the event and come and go freely through the vip areas. They had the proper identification (it was jason’s family event) but when Jason ran and left Courtney, that’s when the trouble started. When we tried to re-enter the vip green room to find Jason, they did not want to let me in. Nancy Davis had purposely told PMK to stop me, and get security to escort me out. I defiantly went up to Jason who clammed shut and would not stick up for me. I begged Courtney to help and she clammed shut as well. 8 policemen and 2 security guards escorted me off the Beverly Hills Hilton property, and into the street. How could this happen? I was her publicist and she sold me out. For a lie.

My Carousel of hope disaster part 1

Courtney was invited to be Jason Davis’s date for the carousel of hope event in 2004. Like all my clients, I personally style and pick the designers for Courtney. Because of Courtneys extremely low budget, she was responsible for hair and makeup. Jason had a deal with a snake named Brian Quintana, who took over after me with him. Brian’s deal with Jason was that if he allowed Brian into the event that he would get him into Oprah Winfrey’s charity event. (Jason was never allowed in, as Brian was lying) Jason would take care of Brian while leaving me unprotected. Everything started off great, as I escorted Jason and Courtney down a huge red carpet that seemed to go on forever, and had 10 tiers deep full of international press photographers, video crews, and reporters. The red carpet ended at the entrance to the vip green room. We went into the green room, and that’s when the trouble started.

Who is Jason Davis's Family?

The family charity events include the super exclusive Barbara and Marvin Davis Carousel of Hope, sponsored by Mercedes Benz and many others. The other family charity event is Nancy Davis’s Race to Erase MS, sponsored by Tommy Hilfiger and many others. PMK is the family publicist on these events. Seats to these events are by invitation only and then can run into the tens of thousands of dollars for the best seats.
Politics and out of control Davis kids can ruin the attendence, so they stepped in pretty quickly when Brandon went out of control, and made him apologise and seek a rehab clinic far away, and for as long as possible. (until they could get people to attend the charity events.)

Who is Jason Davis?

Grandson to Billionaires Marvin and Barbara Davis, and son to Nancy Davis. His father was one of her flings. He was quietly paid to go away and keep a low profile. His name is Bilo. His brother is Brandon Davis who is better known then him, because of his celebrity A-list girl friends Misha Barton, and Al Fayed’s daughter from the UK. Brandon also hangs out with Paris Hilton and was caught on video talking about the now famous Fire crotch attack on Lindsay Lohan. He lives with his mother in Bel Aire. He seems to be pretty close with the Hilton family and Rod Stewarts kids Sean and Kimberly.

Jason Davis thinks about marriage to Courtney Peldon part 2

Jason Davis had his birthday party (Christmas time) at Chopard on Rodeo. At the store, Jason was shopping for a wedding ring with Courtney. (they begged the photographers not to release the ring photo’s) She picked out a watch that night, instead of a ring. She was still thinking of other men, as she had a strong sexual appetite. Jason was accusing me of having sex with her and repeatedly asked: “Are you boning Courtney?” He was furious with me.

Jason Davis thinks about marriage to Courtney Peldon part 1

She was using him, and he was using (me) her. He began thinking of marriage, and the house they would live in. (I think they went privately to look at houses.) He was taking her to dinner (without me) to Mr. Chow, Polo Lounge and other high profile places. She was thinking of other men at the time and was not at all as serious as he was. The press was not buying it either, and thought it was a very strange match of a huge teddy bear and such a small doll of a girl. Never less, the press kept taking photo’s and the ones without him were still appearing in the newspapers and the magazines.

Jason Davis figures out how to cheat the publicist.

Somewhere along the way, Jason Davis figured out, that if he was Courtney Peldon’s date, that he would not have to pay for a publicist. He could get press, get into parties, events, red carpets, movie premieres, and do it without paying me for my work. (please keep in mind that she was a D-list actress that I was getting into parties by mostly begging and trading favors. Now add an uncontrollable drunkard grandson of a billionaire, who wanted to steal the press away from the other guests in a similar style to Anna Nicole Smith did it. Luckily she did not want him at everything I got her into. (Courtney was going to almost 2-3 events a day. 5 days a week, and I was styling her by pulling dresses, shoes, handbags and other accessories for every event.) (I was getting her press in at least 3-5 newspapers and magazines a week through my hard work and gruesome schedule of attending so many events.)

Jason Davis meets Courtney Peldon part 4

I told Jason Davis, I needed cash. I said for him to give me at least $50 dollars, right now. He gave me the money, and I let him enter the party and walk the red carpet with Courtney. He was extatic and out of control. He lifted Coutney into his arms like a Barbie doll, and she was not wearing underwear. The photographers were snapping away, as I ran to take her down. We were in shock at his antics. He was trying so hard to get photographed.

Jason Davis meets Courtney Peldon part 3

I took Courtney to a A-list event in West Hollywood and I saw Jason Davis trying to get into a black eyed peas private concert for a cell phone company, on the rooftop of the grove mall parking lot. He made eye contact and was begging me to get him in. I told him I wanted money. I wanted to be paid to get him in. He finally broke down and said: “how much?”

Jason Davis meets Courtney Peldon part 2

I bumped into Jason one night and introduced him to my client Courtney. (I felt that I bump into the same people to many times, not to try and be friendly with everyone.)
He technique to getting into parties and events was to crash them and if he could not get in, to wait at the rope till someone recognized him or took pity on him, and let him in. The promoters and security were keeping tabs and looked down on this style.

Jason Davis meets Courtney Peldon for the first time.

Some time later, I had another client named Courtney Peldon. (In a future blog, I will go into detail about her.) As I said in my past blog, it was always the same D-listers attending events. That’s how I met her. It was at a mansion charity party near the playboy mansion called the Red Party. It was honoring David Lachapelle and the little guy Paul from the old Burt renolds movies. Pamela Anderson Lee was with David the whole night. And camped out in a private room was Courtney and her sister Ashley “Brown” Peldon. They were like wall flowers. Several parties later, I took action and showed her what I could do. (see kill bill after party photo’s) Everyone, including Courtney, thought Jason was at least 3-5 years older then he actually was. It was not until his birthday party several years later, in New York that his actual age of 21 came up. He not only had entertainment people like executive producers chasing after him and his money, but if he had worked it any better, he would have had endless amounts of girls wanting him for the socialite life style, and the pampering. It seemed to me that girls found him hideous, and could not bring themselves to even acting to get what they wanted from him. That was until I introduced him to my client Courtney Peldon.

I get rid of him "your fired"

I finally put my foot down and said to him, “please show a sign of good faith with at least $500 dollars.” I only wanted some type of token that he was satisfied. It turned out, for the thousands of dollars of work, he would not even pay that. I dropped him as a client and stopped taking his drunken phone calls begging to get into events.

We started on a trial basis

He at first was skeptical about my abilities, (and I was as well, because he was my first client) so he wanted to test me out. (I wanted to test myself out as well) It was so easy for me, and I did such a good job so quickly, I felt the test was over and needed money for my continued work. I had gotten him into movie premiers, red carpets, and LA fashion week front row for about 10 shows. My sister’s staff that was monitoring my work, was screaming at me for not getting paid. He kept putting me off, and asking for more.

How the socialite Jason Davis became a client

One day I saw him alone at a large private event for GM, at a film studio soundstage. The special performance was from Busta Rthyme and Public Enemy. The Hollywood celebrity audience was 99% white.) Jason was friendly because he was all alone. I got his number and asked him if he needed a publicist. He said yes, and that’s when I started working for him.

How I came to know the socialite Jason Davis part 2 (describe him)

Here was a person like his brother Brandon Davis, that always let you know that he was the one with the money and you were not in the same league. It did not phase me, because I have always been a humble person. He needed constant supervision, and always had a body guard or a caring close friend to keep him out of trouble. I came in late to a car situation of his, but it seemed he could not drive a car, and needed someone to drive him around. I could speculate to say that he crashed his cars to often, but that would be pure speculation.

How I came to know the socialite Jason Davis

How I came to know my socialite Jason Davis. I want to describe him first. To the un aided eye you see this extremely large person. To your sense of hearing, was a boy who was equally larger than life, with his Thurston Howell voice. This was combined with a whiny brat spoiled attitude. Now include Alcohol, and maybe drugs, and you get an uncontrollable trust fund baby. (He later curtailed his alcohol and drug use at his mother’s request and threat to cut him off. He was also rewarded for abstaining with money gifts.) Like a girl on her period, he was also very moody. He was tolerable on some days.

Origins of my work with socialites part 9 (Press photographers)

A big part of their network was from the press photographers who had the daily calendar of all events. It wasn’t until Wire image and Getty images started buying exclusive rights to some big budget parties that the photographers were left out, but they mostly bought exclusive rights to the after parties, and to be the only photographic agency inside the party. The red carpet was still open to everyone.

Origins of my work with socialites part 8 (Party Crashers)

The party crashers and no-listers attending knew how to be at everything but go under the radar. They knew who would let them in, how to play the list, whom to trade gift bag loot with for access. They were experts at everything, had dirt on everyone. They knew every security guard every exit and secret entrance. They knew the proper time to show up to avoid detection and still get gift bags, food and drinks. The most important intelligence they had was where and when every party was and who was throwing it, and who was going to attend.

origins of my work with socialites part 7 (my epiphany)

It was during my time out of the office when I finally discovered myself, and my natural skills for publicity. Unlike my sister, I decided to take total unknowns and to make them famous as quickly as possible. When I had my own clients in the near future, people thought it was my sister doing the work. She had nothing to do with these non-celebrities.

Origins of my work with socialites Part 6 the friends and party crashers.

I was bored at the events and wanted to answer my curiosities of who those people were that I keep seeing at the events. I started being friendly to the people I would classify as D-list or no-list or off the radar on purpose. It turned out that these people had an intricate network and a system of coming and getting into these events. They taught me things I would need to know in the future to help a total unknown become famous. continued...

Origins of my work with socialites Part 5 who are the good people?

Witches, bitches and cunts and very self centered individuals are not the type of people I want as friends, even if thats the only way to get ahead. Some of the photographers were very kind and sweet people. They became my friends that I saw often.

Origins of my work with socialites Part 4 who shows up to events?

I started seeing the same D-list people and some no-list people getting into every event. (where they friends of the promoter or party crashers?) I resisted my curiosity at first to talking with them and finding out their story. I focused on networking with agents, managers and the promoters as well as the press. (the only real reason for a publicist to attend without any clients, is to become friendly with the reporters and photographers for later benefit)

When I gained enough trust from the major event planners and club promoters (who are some of the same people in New York) and they became friendly with me; they started sending me my own invites. Origins of my work with socialites Part 2

After 3 years of keeping busy by helping my sister only in her office, she started to let me go to some of the red carpet events with her staff and clients. She eventually let me go to some red carpet events by myself. (I never brought a date, because that would have been disrespectful to her.) In my later experience on my own as a publicist; when you hire interns, all they want is to go directly to the red carpet without putting in any work in the office. I was soft and let them go before I was able to determine their loyalty and trust. Most of them were back stabbers and snakes who actually stole my clients, when I sent them to cover events. Others drank far to much alcohol to look after the clients. continued...

Origins of my work with socialites Part 1

My work as a publicist began with the loss of my children in 2001. My sister Karynne Tencer (one of Hollywood's greatest and most talented celebrity publicist) graciously let me come and stay with her in Beverly Hills,CA. She gave me something to do, to keep busy. While I was never an employee, she taught me how to be a publicist by giving me things to do like, clipping her client celebrity articles in the magazines, newspapers, the trades (Hollywood Reporter and the Daily Variety) and looking online. She then told me to fax them to their manager, agent and the celebrity. When a movie came out with her clients in one of the starring roles, there would be to much work for her staff to find all the stories and reviews. (Blogs were not as popular or as important as they are today.) I wanted to do more in her office because I had no hobbies to keep me busy during the day. She let me answer the phones during her staffs lunch break, or they would send me to pick up the carry outs, and then while they were eating, I would answer the phones. continued...
